The Web Summit took place in Lisbon from the 13th to the 16th of November, 2023. The conference brought together over 71,000 people and the companies redefining the tech industry. It featured sessions that gathered tech experts, cultural icons and global policymakers; as well as interactive Q&As, masterclasses, roundtables and speaker experiences.

UQ had a prominent showing at the event this year, as a first time attendee, via the presence of our CEO, Sebastian Weidt.

UQ

At a time of great uncertainty for many industries and, indeed, the world itself, the event gathered the founders and CEOs of technology companies, fast-growing startups, policymakers and heads of state to ask a simple question: Where to next?

Sebastian answered that question for the quantum computing sector over two educational sessions. In the first of two sessions, Sebastian sat down with Ryan Morrison of Tom's Guide to dissect the current state of the sector, and also reflected on what the future holds.

In the second session, Sebastian took the Web Summit stage to give a high-level explanation of quantum computing, frame the significance of quantum computing to real world applications, and then explain UQ's unique approach to winning the quantum race.
