We’re proud to share that Universal Quantum has been featured on BBC Politics, highlighting our journey from academic roots at the University of Sussex to becoming a venture-backed quantum hardware company on a mission to build scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computers.

Our work remains anchored in Sussex, a region rapidly emerging as a global hub for quantum technology. With access to exceptional local talent, integrated supply chains, and a world-class university, we’re demonstrating what it looks like to take quantum research from lab to market at scale.

Our UQConnect system set a world record for quantum connection fidelity - performing seven orders of magnitude better than the nearest academic competitor. But that achievement is part of a much bigger picture.

We’re attracting top talent from across the world, including leaders from Intel, Google and Oxford Nanopore, while also creating long-term career paths for local graduates who now build world-class technology at our facility.

By working closely with regional industrial partners across digital, precision engineering, and quantum component manufacturing, we’re building more than a company - we’re helping shape a thriving quantum ecosystem in Sussex.

This is what research-to-industry translation looks like when it’s done with purpose and long-term vision.
